Poem #113 certain miserable days

I once promised myself
That is not now likely to happen
I can see only the window
Capital, some people will tell you
It would be divided equally
Generation after generation
Let us take up obscure cases.
I can feel certain miserable days
Going over to sit inhabited good shots
Traditions for irregulars
Black leather walked with the old days
Entered their mess, possession of the
White heart races
Never told the burdensome of necessity
Dull his hearts passion with jealously
Clearly gallant captain hate
On the verge of wishing ways
Shocked silence –
A blackguarded to self-respect
It is the kind of screw
introduced by
turning

Into the world

Poem #65 Plaintive

Did you see it?
The two of us
The first word
No way
How did they get it ?
From here to there
Working part of the time
he has it
Up in the air.
She said to go

Which way?

Poem #59 life to fit between the gaps

desperate idealists
twenty-one years old
civil war each tossed down
young man grateful
life to fit between the gaps
of hard work and leisure
cynicism he spent his decade
worry about eventually
a while the most casual observer
headlines turned thirty-six
together another pretty managed wreck
the same old Rome, Rome again
luck everything people called gods
trembling between the music
of the first three books
elaborate and moving
and despair on the other
himself to say as the world outside
ironies are the poet
maybe after a fashion
genius wreck strange unrealistic
the nightmare has come
Dionysus alone
attends rather naughty parties
Apollo a sort of private secretary
set off on premature council
others linger died freedom
of a culture
generation loved it
missed the point
one cannot blame
shredded society
fabricated philosophy

incurable sickness violent
